Matthew Stafford hasn’t taken the field yet with the Los Angeles Rams, but there are high hopes for the former Detroit Lion.
Case in point, NFL Network analyst David Carr has chosen Stafford as likely to win this year’s MVP, going against many analysts who are looking at Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I’ve raved all offseason about the Rams-Stafford marriage,” Carr says via NFL.com. “The veteran passer is a perfect fit for Sean McVay’s system, and we’ll see the evidence all over the stat sheet.”
He adds, “The longtime Lion will excel on play-action, tight-window throws, deep passes and under pressure. Stafford’s numbers have been great — elite, at times — throughout his career. But now, playing on a contender, he’ll finally get the credit he deserves.”
