MSU to Sign Major Contract with Mel Tucker, Making Him the Highest-Paid Coach in the Big Ten: Report
There’s been lots of talk about whether Michigan State University head football coach Mel Tucker is going to stay with MSU or leave, and now, it appears he’s poised to stay, thanks to a huge contact. As a Spartan, I’m happy and relieved that Tucker appears to be in it for the long haul.
The Detroit News reports that the new deal will make him one of the highest-paid coaches in college football.
According to the publication, Tucker will sign a 10-year, $95 million contract, making him the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten and second-highest paid coach in the U.S., only behind Nick Saban of Alabama. Saban, of course, was once at MSU, so they’re keeping the big bucks in the family.
The new agreement will reportedly also increase the salary pool for assistant coaches. Everything is expected to come out as early as Thursday (Nov. 18), according to the Detroit News.
