The football season is coming to an end, which makes me sad, because it’s by far my favorite sport. It’s been a successful season for both Michigan State and Michigan football. The Lions, not so much.

The Big Ten named their football coach of the year on Tuesday (Nov. 30), and it’s a first, as Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker took the honor. He’s the sixth person in the college’s history to win the award, plus, he swept the honor from both the league’s coaches and media.

Tucker coached the Spartans to a 10-2 record in his second season, making him the fastest MSU coach ever to get a 10-win season. Tucker also has two wins against rival Michigan under his belt.

In other news, MSU senior defensive end Jacub Panasiuk will be part of the All-Big Ten second team, and senior safety Xavier Henderson scored third-team honors.
