Red Wings Hire Nicklas Lidstrom as VP of Hockey Operations

The Detroit Red Wings have officially hired former captain Nicklas Lidstrom to serve as the team’s vice president of hockey operations.
Lidstrom is expected to be involved in all aspects of hockey operations for the Wings, according to a statement.
“We encourage him and have asked him to get involved in every aspect,” Yzerman said during a press conference Tuesday (Jan. 11). “For all of us, to be able to pick his brain… it’s a tremendous resource.”
Lidstrom is one of the Red Wings’ biggest names and most celebrated players in NHL history.
