Michigan State coach Mel Tucker is no longer the sole, highest-paid coach in the Big Ten.
If you recall, following Tucker’s incredible season last year, he signed a 10-year, $95 million contract extension with Michigan State in November that is fully guaranteed.
On Wednesday (May 18), Ohio State announced coach Ryan Day will get a two-year extension through 2028 and a raise to $9.5 million year. That makes him tied with Tucker as the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten. If you want to watch the two highest-paid coaches go head-to-head, the Spartans will host the Buckeyes on Oct. 8.
It’s no big surprise, but Alabama’s Nick Saban is the highest-paid coach of a public school in the nation. He’s scheduled to make $9.9 million this season.
