Red Wings Announce Derek Lalonde as New Head Coach

The Detroit Red Wings executive vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman has announced that Derek Lalonde the team’s new head coach. He’s the 28th head coach in franchise history and will take the place of Jeff Blashill.

Lalonde most recently spent four seasons as an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Under his assistant coaching, the team scored back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
