With Michigan football coming off a fantastic season, one might think Michigan fans would be happy with head coach Jim Harbaugh, but this buzz this weekend is that some fans are not so giddy. Why, you ask? It all comes down to recruits.
Late last week, Detroit native and five-star quarterback Dante Moore, who was considering Michigan, ended up not going with the Maize and Blue. Instead, he announced his commitment to the University of Oregon. Michigan fans were crossing their fingers that Moore would stay in the state, so this was quite a turn of events.
This comes after the fact that Michigan just scored a Big Ten title and spot in the College Football Playoff. I personally feel that Moore would have thrived at Michigan, but I'm sure he had his reasons for picking the University of Oregon. Something tells me that Michigan will still have a solid year, and Michigan State, too. It's going to be an exciting season to be a football fan in the Mitten.
Here's some Twitter reaction:
"There was one thing Michigan football *couldn't* do coming off a Big Ten championship, and that was whiff on BOTH Dante Moore and CJ Carr. Big yikes," said Derick Hutchinson.
"It’s official — 2023 in-state five-star QB Dante Moore has committed to Oregon over Michigan. The Wolverines have now missed out on both in-state five-star passers in 2023 and 2024," stated Maize n Brew.
