Ex-Detroit Red Wings Coach Jeff Blashill Joins the Tampa Bay Lightning as Assistant Coach

Jeff Blashill been tapped by the Tampa Bay Lightning to join the team’s coaching staff as an assistant to Jon Cooper.
The news arrives less than two weeks after the position opened in Tampa, following Wings general manager Steve Yzerman hiring ex-Lightning assistant Derek Lalonde as head coach in Detroit.
Blashill, 48, joined the Wings in 2015, following the departure of Mike Babcock. Blashill had already been in Detroit from 2011-12.
