The Detroit Lions went from a 1-6 start to the season to winning either of their last 10 games. They also rounded out the season with their first winning record in five years at 9-8.

Now, head coach Dan Campbell is in the running for NFL coach of the year. During an appearance on the “Manningcast” broadcast of the Dallas Cowboys vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, Campbell actually said others deserved that award more than he does.

“Look, it would absolutely be an honor because there are some really good coaches that deserve that,” Campbell said. “But to me, there are better ones out there than me, by the job they did this year. (Giants coach Brian) Daboll would be one of those, just did a heck of a job. (Jaguars coach) Doug Pederson (too). I can go down the list. Yeah, I’d be honored, but there are some coaches that would be really worthy of that.”
