Michigan Vintage Store To Celebrate Earth Day With A Fundraiser
Earth Day is April 22. Michiganders often celebrate Earth Day with a variety of events. One local vintage clothing store in Berkley is holding their own event.
Reware Vintage is hosting an Earth Day fundraiser to raise money for two climate change organizations. Clean Air Task Force, which is working to decarbonize the global energy system and 350.org, a grassroots organization fighting climate change. The ‘T-shirts for the Climate’ event will feature new, used, and vintage t-shirts donated by the store and customers. All proceeds from the $10 t-shirt sales will be donated the Clean Air Task Force. In addition to those proceeds, 10 percent of all other in-store sales during the event will be donated to 350.org.
If you have t-shirts to donate, their website says that you can bring them by the store now up until April 23 during business hours.
The popular vintage shop specializes in casual vintage clothing for all ages and sizes and aims to support an eco-friendlier market. Even their packaging, tags, and other supplies are compostable and recyclable.
When is the Earth Day weekend event?
T-shirts for the Climate sale will take place on Friday, April 22, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, April 24, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The environmental movement became popular in the 1960s. According to National Geographic, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson was inspired by the movement and decided to make a national celebration. The first official event took place in the U.S. on April 22, 1970, with the help of Harvard graduate student Denis Hayes. The day focused on “educating participants in the importance of environmental conservation,” National Geographic explains. More than 20 million people attended the first Earth Day event and it led to an increase in support for the Clean Air Act and the Endangered Species Act.
