Michigan: Here Is Our Most Popular Holiday Drink
Tasting Table recently detailed the most popular Christmas drink in every state, and the choice in Michigan is surprising.
“Just what beverage puts you in the Christmas spirit may depend on in which U.S. state you live,” they said.
Holiday drinks can make you feel joy before evening taking a sip. That’s because often they are representative of being in great company and celebrating the season. Krafty Christmas concoctions are welcomed with a wide range of festive options. Whether you celebrate with friends and family, curling up by the fire to watch a holiday movie, or out at the company bash, these drinks are often part of the experience.
Tasting Table explained that the most popular of these drinks this year is the poinsettia cocktail. This is a nice mix of champagne, triple sec, and cranberry juice. If you really want to make it catch the eye, you can add a little pine or mint garnish to make the red and green colors pop. Moreover, 12 states point to the poinsettia cocktail as their favorite drink this holiday season. Nonetheless, only New Hampshire and Maine in the New England area chose this.
Michigan Prefers Christmas Punch As Our Christmas Drink
Tasting Table detailed that in Michigan, we prefer a spiked fruit drink served cold over ice. In fact, the Great Lake State was one of eight places where this drink is the most popular Christmas beverage. We may clash with Illinois when it comes to sports, but when it comes to holiday fun, we agree. Eight states in total seem to prefer this holiday drink that packs a punch.
Here is all you need to create a great Christmas Punch. With a base of sparking wine, combine cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, orange juice and either a lemon-lime soda or ginger ale. Then, you can add in some spiced rum. To really pump up the festive spirit, you can top it off with a cinnamon stick.
Enjoy Michigan's Winter Wonderland With These Unique Activities
No matter the time of year, Michigan has loads of cool stuff to do. But there’s something special about when the state turns into a winter wonderland. Just because it gets cold and snowy during winter doesn’t mean you have to hibernate at home. There are plenty of winter activities to enjoy all season long, even after the holiday rush.
Cities all across Michigan have outdoor fun, like skiing, ice skating, and even dining in igloos. Michiganders know how to prep for winter too. Many of us fire up fireplaces, stock up on hot cocoa, and dig out our snow gear in preparation for those winter months.
Winter Blues
The first day of winter marks the beginning of a season filled with holiday celebrations, quality time with friends and family, and cozy comforts. However, the extended cold days and nights can sometimes lead to cabin fever.
As the days get shorter, some folks start feeling a bit down. You might get the winter blues around the holidays or feel a bit of a slump after all the fun and festivities. The National Institutes of Health says that finding fun and engaging activities can help beat those winter blues.
