America is home to some of the busiest cities and many calm and peaceful places. According to a study, two Michigan cities were ranked among the most peaceful. Insider Monkey, a financial website, recently ranked the "25 Most Peaceful Places to Live in the U.S."

They analyzed factors that contribute to a peaceful setting for living. Each city was given an average noise level ranked in decibels and access to outdoor space score to determine the rankings. Additionally, the ranking sourced the places with the best quality of life in the U.S. from the Niche screener. Niche is a platform that has data on neighborhoods, schools, and communities. The noise level metric was acquired from the ArcGIS and noise map viewer.

"A peaceful place for living offers a calm and serene environment to its residents," they said. "Our hypothesis is that a calm surrounding is free from disruptive sounds of traffic and other kinds of noise. Thus, we selected mean noise level as our primary metric," they added.

According to the study, Michigan has two notably peaceful cities. These cities include Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids. Ann Arbor ranked number 3 with a noise level of 39.13 decibels and access to an outdoor score of 92%. The ranking mentions the city’s "outdoorsy life and tight-knit" community.

Grand Rapids ranked number 6 on the list. The ranking mentions that the city has a noise level of 39.65 decibels and an access to outdoors score of 77%. They highlighted the city’s walkability and access to green and quiet suburbs.
