There are several Michigan music festivals to get excited about: the Mo Pop Festival, Detroit Jazz Festival, Dally in the Alley, Arts Beats & Eats, Movement Electronic Music Festival, and more. Recently, USA Today: 10Best compiled a list of the best music festivals in America, and one Michigan festival made its list of the ten best.

"To find the best, our panel of music festival aficionados hand-picked essential festivals from coast to coast, where music fans can enjoy several artists (and even genres) in one place. Then, readers voted for their favorites to crown the winners," they said.

A Michigan music festival is named as one of the best in America

Michigan's Electric Forest earned spot number 6 on the list. This Michigan music festival was up against other music festivals like Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Lollapalooza. Rothbury’s multi-genre music festival has been filling Michigan's Sherwood Forest for more than a decade. The outlet highlighted this music festival for its scavenger hunts, "quirky" art installations, various camping and lodging options, fireworks, food, and artisan vendors add to the "magical playground vibe."

This year's Electric Forest is scheduled for June 20 to June 23. The lineup includes Nelly Furtado, Ludacris, Subtronics, Acraze, and others.

Originally, the music festival was called Rothbury Festival and debuted in 2008. In 2012, the event, which focuses on electronic music, debuted under its new name, Electric Forest.

The number one best music festival in America

At the top of their list is the Joshua Tree Music Festival in California. Founded in 2003, the Joshua Tree Music Festival takes place near the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in the Mojave Desert. It's a family-friendly event that offers live music from multiple genres. It also features art, workshops, and activities for kids. This year the festival is scheduled for May 16 through May 19 and October 10 through October 13.  Its spring festival lineup includes Fantastic Negrito, Moon Hooch, Funk You, Steve Poltz, and others.

Snagging the number two spot is the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion in Bristol, Tennessee, and Bristol, Virginia. It’s worth mentioning that Bristol is where you can be in Tennessee and Virginia at the same time. "Bristol's iconic State Street in Historic Downtown is actually our 'Main Street' and is the official state line for Tennessee and Virginia," stated Discover Bristol’s website.

Wrapping up the top three is Nashville, Tennessee's CMA Fest. The list highlights how it’s the "longest-running country music festival in the world." There are several outdoor stages with opportunities to catch fine acts for free, as well as ticketed seating.
