Lions Break Record for Fourth-Down Conversion Attempts in the NFL

Congrats to Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions, not only on their Packers win on Sunday (Jan. 9) but also on breaking a record in the NFL.

Yes, it's true. Detroit just set a new NFL record for fourth-down conversion attempts. The Lions have attempted to convert 40 times on fourth down. That tops the New England Patriots record of 39 attempts back in 1995. That's pretty cool! Hey, I'm a Detroit Lions fan, through and through, so I was pumped to our win over the weekend, even if it means not having a No. 1 pick in the draft. You've got to play to win, you know?

Here's what Campbell had to say about the record, speaking with local reporters after the game (via SI.com).

“When you feel like you have trust in your players or in the play or where the game’s at, I don’t know, it feels right,” Campbell said. “And so, I want to do it. I think you’ve got to feel good about your players and the plan, and if you do, I think you go for it. And, I want to send a message that we’re playing to win, and we’re not playing to lose. And, there’s a time to be conservative, and there’s a time to be aggressive.”
