Report: Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh to Be Suspended 4 Games

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and the NCAA are reportedly working on resolution that will likely have him suspended four games this season. The penalties come from alleged false statements he first made to investigators, Yahoo Sports reports.

Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh to Be Suspended

According to Yahoo Sports, the agreement is an “initial version of the negotiated resolution.” It’s not finished yet. Now, the resolution has to be approved by the NCAA Committee on Infractions. The committee is allowed to make any adjustments they deem fit, too. When Yahoo Sports asked the University of Michigan for comment, they did not immediately respond.

“Harbaugh’s impending suspension is centered on an NCAA investigation into recruiting violations committed by he and Wolverines staff members,” Yahoo Sports reports. “The NCAA enforcement staff alleged that Harbaugh was dishonest about the recruiting violations in his initial meeting with investigators. A quick resolution broke down in January after Harbaugh refused to admit that he lied to NCAA staff. The 59-year-old coach has maintained he didn’t recall the events when first speaking with investigators but that he was never purposefully dishonest.”

If this four-game suspension goes through, Harbaugh will miss four home games, as Michigan’s first four matches are all at home. This all comes on the heels of Michigan getting lots of good buzz going into the new season. They finished the last season 13-1.     The Detroit Lions have veteran cornerback Cam Sutton in the fold. “From the defensive side we have a lot of physical guys,” Sutton said via DetroitLions.com. “A lot of hungry guys. Guys who want to get after the ball and make plays on the ball from all different levels. It’s a very communicative group, very high energy and you need that tenacity that vicious mindset every time you attack the field.”

    Running back Jahmyr Gibbs is a rookie, but the Detroit Lions have high expectations for him. He comes from Alabama, where he led in rushing and receiving in 2022. He also is going to be working closely with David Montgomery. as having both running backs will help keep each other rested and fresh.
