Tigers vs. Dodgers Predictions and Picks
The Tigers battle the Dodgers in this interleague matchup. After one game this season, Detroit is tied for 13th in runs scored and seventh in batting average. The Tigers' ERA is tied for 22nd at 5.63. Spencer Torkelson leads the team with a batting average of 1.000.
In Game 1, Detroit outhit Los Angeles 9 to 7 and kept things close. The Tigers almost pulled off a late comeback but fell short. The middle of their lineup performed well, but the bottom half could do a little more. Torkelson reached base five times, with 4 walks and a solo home run. He will look to continue getting on base and help set the table for his teammates.
The Dodgers have an early lead for the best record in the MLB. LA is first in runs scored, batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. In pitching, they are first in ERA and WHIP. Shohei Ohtani leads the team in home runs with 2, and Will Smith leads in batting average with .429.
In Game 1, LA scored first, and Teoscar Hernández hit a three-run homer to give the Dodgers a 4-2 lead. The top of the lineup all scored at least once, and the bullpen pitched decently. Los Angeles will look to keep the offense going and get another solid pitching effort.
Best Bet: Under 7
Last season, Jack Flaherty was traded from the Tigers to the Dodgers, where he helped LA win a World Series title. Now, he is back with the Tigers and will try to shut down this powerful Dodgers lineup. Yamamoto has already had one strong outing this season and is one of the many aces in this rotation. Game 2 should be more about pitching and a few solo home runs.
