NBA All-Star Weekend in Cleveland, Ohio kicked off on Friday night, with a revamped Rising Stars Challenge, which saw four seven-man rosters coached by former Piston Isiah Thomas, Rick Barry, James Worthy, and Gary Payton. A total of three games were played, including two semifinal matchups to 50 and a championship game to 25 as a nod to the league’s 75th anniversary.
The top overall pick to the Detroit Pistons, Cade Cunningham, took home the event MVP after leading Team Barry to a 25-20 win over Team Isiah in the Title Game. The likes of Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, Tyrese Maxey, and LaMelo Ball were highlighted on this night, as were G-League players, and the new format was appreciated by all involved and all that watched.
