Pistons Land 5th, Lose Out On Wembanyama
Tuesday night was a tough one for the Pistons faithful.
The team carried the worst record in the NBA at 17-65, and were one of three teams with a 14% chance at landing the coveted number one draft pick in the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery.
The mighty Ben Wallace was called in to give some of his championship aura to the Pistons, representing the organization at the draft lottery event in Chicago.
Unfortunately for the Detroit Pistons, when the 5th pick was drawn, the all too familiar red, white and blue slowly revealed itself before being fully lifted and presented – an an audible roar of frustration could be heard throughout the Motor City.
Who will the Pistons take at the #5 spot?
We know the big prize, Victor Wembanyama is headed into the welcoming arms of Coach Gregg Popovich in San Antonio, but there are some very respectable choices who will still likely be available.
Twin guards Amen and Ausar Thompson may still be for the taking as well as Villanova’s Cam Whitmore and Houston’s Jarace Walker.
Not exactly what the Pistons and Detroit were hoping for, but time will tell if the upcoming draft pick will be the game changer that Cade Cunningham and company need.
