4 Michigan Areas Among the ‘Top 20 Dangerous’ in America
Michigan is a great place to travel in the summer, in my opinion. We have the Great Lakes, as well as tons of inland lakes and forests. It’s simply a beautiful state in the summer. However, one travel publication has named four Michigan areas among the most dangerous in the U.S.
The travel outlet is TravelingLifestyle.net, and they recently posted an article ranking the most dangerous cities in the U.S. “Crime has been on the rise in the United States during the past few years, and many people are concerned that the towns in which they live might no longer be safe,” they state in the study. “Fortunately, there are plenty of safe cities in the United States, but there are also some that are dangerous.” They add that their list features the cities with the highest crime rates in America.
Before we get to the Michigan areas that made the list, let’s look at the most dangerous cities in America. Both are in Alabama. Mobile is No. 2; and Bessemer is actually No. 1. “As per neighborhoodscout’s analysis of dangerous cities in the United States, Bessemer has been identified as the most dangerous city in the U.S. in 2023,” TravelingLifestyle.net states. They do have an added note that they included in February, stating, “Bessemer mayor says police removed 300 guns from the streets in 2022.”
As for dangerous Michigan cities, Lansing comes in at No. 17, and Kalamazoo is No. 12. Then, Detroit is No. 6; and Saginaw is No. 4. According to their study, “the likelihood of being affected by violent or property crime in Saginaw is 1 in 24.” I’m surprised to see Saginaw so high on the national list, and I have some great friends in Saginaw that really enjoy the city.
