Well, this would be an interesting turn of events. With Aaron Rodgers leaving the Packers, the folks in Green Bay are keeping their eyes out for a new quarterback.

They might not get a new quarterback, actually. They might get a guy who has been in the business for quite a while, including a good chunk of time in Detroit.

Of course, I’m talking about Matthew Stafford. Yes, the Stafford rumors are buzzing. Some are speculating that Stafford is one of the quarterbacks that Green Bay is looking at, after they likely lose Rodgers. Read on for the buzz.

  • Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network's insight

Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network says this: “The #Packers and #Jets continue to negotiate on an Aaron Rodgers trade but have not yet agreed to trade terms, per sources. Green Bay isn’t looking for multiple first-round picks like other QBs (Russell Wilson, Matthew Stafford) have commanded in recent years. Talks ongoing.”

  • What do the Packers want to Rodgers?

NFL insider Adam Schefter says that Green Bay wants a package similar to what the Detroit Lions received from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Matthew Stafford. In other words, they want a lot.

  • Will it happen?

It’s very early in the story of who the Packers will bring on as their quarterback. I would honestly be surprised if they brought Matthew Stafford into the mix. They saw how the Lions performed for more than a decade with Stafford and probably want some fresh blood. But, there aren’t a lot of available quarterbacks right now, and there is no denying that Stafford is solid, so we’ll have to wait and see.
